I saw a guy use a chalk line for a tile layout at a hardware store demo
He was showing how to snap a straight line across a whole floor in like two seconds. I tried it on my bathroom redo and it saved me a bunch of time trying to get the first row straight with a level. Anyone have other quick layout tricks for tile?

Wow, chalk lines are a game changer for sure. A lot of people forget to check for out-of-square walls before they even start snapping lines. I use the 3-4-5 triangle method in the corner to find my true starting point, which stops those skinny cuts at the end. What's your go-to way to find square in a room?

Honestly I've laid miles of tile and never once pulled out a calculator for a 3-4-5 triangle. Most rooms are so far out of whack that finding a perfect square just means you're fighting every wall. I snap a line off the longest wall that looks straight and adjust from there. As long as the cuts are consistent, nobody's going to notice a quarter inch over ten feet.

Yeah, the "fighting every wall" thing is so real. I mean, if the room's that far off, your true square is gonna make the last row look weird. I just find the most visible wall, snap off that, and let the cuts hide the wonky parts.
