Realized my meal prep was failing at the Aldi checkout line

I was standing in line at Aldi last Tuesday with a full cart of stuff for the week. The lady behind me had like 8 items and was out in 4 minutes. I looked at my cart and saw 4 different kinds of veggies I never actually cook before they go bad. Now I only buy 1 rotating veggie each week and plan meals around that one thing. Anyone else find they waste less with a super short grocery list?

That "1 rotating veggie" rule is basically life telling us we overcomplicate everything.

Wait, are we really acting like one bad trip to Aldi means we need a whole new life system now? lol I mean yeah, nobody likes throwing money away on rotting kale, but isn't this just basic common sense? You buy less stuff, you waste less. It's not some genius hack, it's just not buying a whole garden every week. People on here act like they discovered fire because they didn't buy 5 types of produce at once. Maybe just take a quick look at what you actually eat before you go to the store instead of making it some big philosophical thing.

The part about "not buying a whole garden every week" really hit me, because that was exactly what I was doing without even realizing it. I would grab a bunch of veggies because they looked good, not because I had a plan to actually eat them. Now I stick to just two or three items total and I actually finish everything before it goes bad.
