PSA: The $7 rice cooker from the thrift store in Cleveland saved my weeknight dinners
There I was at a tiny thrift store in Cleveland last month, waiting to pick up my kid from practice, and I spotted this little retro rice cooker for $7. It was dusty and missing the instruction manual, but I figured for that price it was worth a shot. I took it home, scrubbed it down, and now I use it at least 4 times a week. I just toss in rice and water, flip the switch, and walk away. It frees up my stove burners and makes dinner feel way less stressful. Has anyone else found a weird kitchen gadget at a garage sale or thrift shop that ended up being their go to?

4 years ago I woulda laughed at someone getting excited over a 7 dollar rice cooker but now my 15 year old zojirushi is basically a family member. I grabbed mine at a garage sale for 5 bucks and honestly it makes perfect rice every single time without me having to watch it. That little thrift find totally changed how I feel about cheap kitchen gadgets.
