Rant: My entire digital art piece got wrecked by a weird color shift

I was finishing a big fantasy scene for a client, working in Procreate on my iPad. When I exported it as a PNG to send, all the deep purples in the shadows turned to this gross muddy brown. I spent like 3 hours yesterday trying to fix it, checking color profiles and export settings. Has anyone else had their colors go totally wrong when moving a file from one app to another?

Saw a thread about this on an art forum last week. People were saying it's usually a color profile mismatch between the app and the export settings.

Totally agree with that, it's such a common headache! I've had my own art look super washed out because I forgot to set the profile to sRGB before saving for web. Some programs keep their own weird default profile that looks fine on your screen but goes nuts everywhere else. Double-checking those export boxes is the first thing I do now, it fixes like 90% of my color issues.

Ugh, my friend had the same thing happen with her comic pages! She fixed it exactly like @piperm38 said, by matching the color profiles before exporting.
