Question about using a free brush pack I downloaded from Gumroad last year

I was totally skeptical of free digital art brushes, thinking they'd be low quality, but the 'Ink Flow' set by artist Lena Chen ended up being the only thing that got my comic panel textures looking right after three failed attempts with my usual tools.

Ha, classic. You spend all that time doubting the free stuff only to have it save your project. Sounds about right. I guess sometimes the tool you need is just sitting there waiting for you to stop being stubborn.

Yeah, the "stop being stubborn" part is so real. I had a folder of free texture brushes I ignored for months. Finally tried one on a flat background layer and it added just enough grit without messing up my line work. Now I test any free pack on a scrap file first, just to see what it actually does. Saves so much time.

Noticed this happens with all kinds of simple fixes, like finally reading the manual for my old drill instead of just forcing it. We collect solutions but avoid using them, almost like we're scared they'll be too easy. Makes you wonder why we fight the simple stuff so hard.
