Had a landlord chew me out over a parking lot quote last week
He said my bid was too high because I listed resurfacing instead of just sealcoating. Told me most contractors slap a fresh coat on cracked asphalt and call it good. Changed how I write proposals now. Has anyone else run into clients who want the cheap fix but expect the full job?

Oh boy, that's frustrating. I've definitely been there with clients who want the cheap route but expect it to last like the real deal. Good on you for updating your proposals though, that's a smart move.

Is it really that deep though? Guy sounds like he wanted a deal and found a reason to complain. Sometimes people just like to feel smart by nitpicking.

Oh man, totally agree with you there. Had a client last month pull the same thing, wanted the cheapest option but then complained about every little thing that didn't hold up like a premium job.
