Just realized my local library has a tool loan program

Last month I needed a pipe threader for a one-off job at my shop. Instead of buying one, I borrowed it for free from the library's 'library of things'. Saved me about $80. Does your town have something like this for tools or other gear?

That's a great find. I wish my town had that, but I own so many tools I could probably start my own lending library. My garage is a monument to single-use purchases.

Monument to single-use purchases? That's just being prepared. I bought a pipe threader eight years ago and it saved my butt last winter when a fitting blew. A library tool would have been rusted shut or missing parts. Owning it means it's there when you need it, not when their hours say you can have it.

Oh man, a pipe threader for eight years just waiting? I mean, that's some serious commitment to a future plumbing crisis. My garage has a special drill bit I bought for one shelf in 2019, and I'm pretty sure it's now a home for spiders.
