My old drill press motor gave up the ghost this morning, right in the middle of a project.

I was trying to drill some clean holes in a piece of angle iron for a gate bracket, and the motor just made this awful grinding noise and quit. It's a 20 year old Craftsman I got from my dad, so I guess it was time. Instead of getting mad, I spent the afternoon taking it apart. Found the culprit, a worn-out bearing that had basically turned to dust. Ordered a replacement for $18 online, and I'm actually looking forward to the repair. It's a small thing, but figuring out the problem and having a fix in sight felt like a solid win for a Tuesday. Anyone else ever save an old tool from the scrap pile?

That Craftsman motor is totally worth the $18 fix.

My buddy did that fix last year and his saw is still running like a champ.

Wait, you found the problem and a fix for eighteen bucks? That's unreal. Lucasw82 is right, these old tools are worth saving when it's that simple. Nice work getting it all sorted out.
