Stop letting your dog eat grass like it's no big deal
I noticed my golden retriever puking up grass pieces every morning for about a week. Took her to the vet on Elm Street and they said she had a mild stomach infection from eating grass treated with lawn chemicals. Turns out my neighbor's yard service sprays stuff that doesn't wash off for days. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of grass issue with their pup?

You mentioned the vet said it was from treated grass. Did they specify what chemical or brand it might have been? I'm asking because my neighbor uses TruGreen and I've wondered if that's safe once it dries, but your story makes me think maybe not.

Oof, yeah... my neighbor's dog got sick just from licking the rain runoff off the driveway once.

Yeah and it's not just about the grass itself. The runoff from treated lawns can pick up all sorts of chemicals and then concentrate them in puddles. A neighbor of mine used a popular weed killer and their dog got into a puddle that had drained off the lawn. The vet said it caused some pretty bad vomiting and lethargy for a couple days. What really got me is that they thought the product was safe once it dried, but the runoff clearly wasn't. I think a lot of people don't realize how those residues travel and stay active even after everything looks dry on the surface.
