How does something with four legs and a tail turn into a lumpy root vegetable every single time I try to draw it?

My friend Jess decided a few years back she wanted a simple bee tattoo, walked out of the shop with what looked like a fuzzy slipper with wings. She still has it and just tells people it's a minimalist bumblebee now. That potato cat sketch might be your new signature style whether you like it or not.

Literally did this with a rabbit last week. Spent a whole hour and it ended up looking like a lumpy potato with long ears instead of legs. My wife asked if it was a mutant slug.
