Swore I would never do knock knock bits at open mic night, then a dude in Amarillo got a bigger laugh than my 20 minutes of real material
Did a clean five at the VFW hall off 6th last month and bombed, so out of spite I opened with "knock knock" and the whole room finished the punchline for me, and now I am writing a whole set of them for the Wednesday contest, so what is the dumbest pun that ever killed for you?

My uncle Ray told a joke at a family reunion in '09 that was so dumb it still gets quoted. What's brown and sticky? A stick. Twenty grown adults on folding chairs, crying. My aunt had to leave the room. Now I cannot do a set without somebody yelling "a stick" from the back. That is the thing about dumb puns, they stick to a crowd way harder than the smart stuff.
