DAE set up a separate email just for logins and it finally paid off after 6 months
I made a junk email account for signups back in January and used it for every store, app, and random site that wanted an address. The point was to keep my real inbox clean, but the side benefit was unexpected. Two breaches got reported to that address over the summer, and I just ignored both. When I finally logged in to check it last Tuesday, there were 61 unread messages, mostly spam and fake password reset attempts. My real email never got touched because it was not on any of those lists. If you have not done this yet, how many throwaway addresses do you keep around?
Wait, 61 unread? That's wild. I check my junk account like once a year and it's always a wasteland of stuff I never signed up for. Do you actually go through them or just delete everything?
