Serious question, did anyone else think 'build a personal brand' meant acting like a corporate account?

For about a year, my posts were all clean graphics and perfect quotes. Then a guy I met at a local meetup in March told me my feed looked like a bank's. He was right. I was trying so hard to look professional that I cut out everything that made my stuff mine. Now I just post what I'm actually working on, even if it's messy. How do you keep your own voice online without sounding like a robot?

Honestly the clean graphics work though. People scroll fast and messy feeds just look unprofessional. That guy at the meetup was probably just jealous.

Yeah but sometimes clean looks like a hospital room. I saw this bakery page that felt so stiff I forgot they sold food. That guy might have been rude but he had a point about warmth.

It's just social media, not a job interview.
