My export preset nuked 40 minutes of timeline right before a client call
Two camps on this: some folks say always build in a save buffer every 10 minutes no matter what, others say just learn your software's quirks and stop being sloppy. Last Thursday I was finishing a client cut for a shop in Denver and hit render, and the whole sequence came back as black frames. I panicked and rebuilt half of it by hand, then found out my export preset had a weird frame rate mismatch. Do you blame the tool or the person, and how often do you actually back up mid project?
I used to roll my eyes at the "save every 10 minutes" crowd and figured people just needed to learn their presets. Then a 29.97 vs 30 mismatch burned me on a Tuesday deadline and I lost a chunk of a client's spot, so now I hit save after every big change and keep versioned copies. The tool wasn't evil and I wasn't lazy, but the combo of a weird preset and no backup is what actually cost me those hours.
