Man, that's a solid point about materials, but the bigger waste might be in your designs. Most people print everything at like 20% infill by default. Dial that down to 10% or even less for stuff that doesn't need strength, and you're literally using half the plastic. Also, slicing software has settings to use less support material. That's where a huge chunk of waste comes from, all that stuff you just snap off and throw away.
