That $40 creative writing prompt deck I bought on impulse actually killed my writer's block

I spent 40 bucks on a deck of prompt cards off Etsy thinking it was gonna be a waste, but after a month I've written more short pieces than in the last two years. Has anyone else had luck with something you thought was just a gimmick?

Bought a similar thing a few months back for $30. Thought it was gonna be a joke but I've written more first drafts than ever. The randomness actually helps.

@mila405 ... fair enough if it works for you, but I'm still on the fence about paying $30 for a random idea generator. Seems like a lot of hype over something you could get from free online prompts or a stack of index cards. Maybe I'm just too old school to believe randomness can fix a real creative block.
