Paid $47 for a used whiteboard at a garage sale, and it fixed my block
I've been stuck on the same prompt about a lighthouse keeper for three weeks, so on a whim I grabbed a beat up whiteboard at a garage sale on Sherman Ave for $47. I wrote the whole story out in colored markers and suddenly saw that my keeper had no reason to stay on the island, which was the real problem all along. Weird how moving words off a screen and onto a wall changes what you notice. What's the strangest cheap thing that got you unstuck on a prompt?

Did you ever try walking away from the screen and just telling the story out loud to yourself? Your voice catches stuff your eyes skip right over, and it costs nothing.
