My NaNoWriMo novel fell apart when I focused on speed over story.
Don't let tight deadlines crush your creative flow.

Ugh, a writer I like said drafting and editing are two different brain modes. Trying to do both at once during a sprint just kills momentum. Your post totally shows why that advice makes sense.

That idea about drafting and editing being different brain modes really hits home. I totally get what @hill.stella is saying here. When I'm writing, I force myself to just get words down first without any edits. If I stop to fix things, I lose the flow and it takes forever to finish. One trick is to set a timer and only draft for that time, then edit later. How do you switch between those modes without losing steam?
