Honestly, that's just one group's vibe. Austin has a ton of writers with different tastes. Maybe it just needs a small tweak, not a full rewrite.

Yeah, I read a piece last week about how local writing circles can get stuck in one style. The author called it "workshop echo." Sometimes changing one character's goal or the opening scene is enough to break that pattern. It doesn't always need a total overhaul.
