Why I stopped yelling at customers for asking dumb questions

Tbh I used to get so annoyed at people calling in about stuff that was clearly on them. Like one guy last March was furious his internet was down, turns out he unplugged the router to charge his phone. I would've laughed him off before. But then I had a shift where a lady called about her smoke detector beeping at 2am and I walked her through checking the battery. She said sorry three times for bothering me. I realized she wasn't dumb, she was scared and tired and just needed help. That moment flipped a switch. Now I try to remember every call is someone's first time dealing with that problem, even if it's obvious to me. Has anyone else had a customer that made you rethink your whole attitude?
