The lady who yelled at me for 25 minutes over a $4 delivery fee is still my worst stop ever
I deliver for a food app here in Sacramento and most folks are fine, but one lady last Saturday turned a simple drop into a 25 minute fight over the $4 delivery fee. She ordered a burrito, then stood in her doorway and read me the whole receipt line by line, asking why the app charged her more than the menu price. I explained the fee twice and even showed her my phone, but she just kept going, like I was the one who set the prices. The food was getting cold in my bag the whole time, and I had two more stops waiting. I finally told her I can't change what the app charges and she said, and I quote, "that is not my problem, sweetheart." What kills me is this happens way more now than it used to, people mad at the app who take it out on whoever's holding the bag. Any of you get the same thing, where the customer wants you to fix a price you had zero part in setting?
Did you see that viral post last month about the DoorDash driver who got chewed out over a two dollar service charge? It got like a million likes because every driver in the comments was like, yep, been there. People forget the app sets the prices and we just show up, so taking it out on us is like yelling at the mailman because stamps cost too much.
