The ice machine at my store tried to charge a customer $14,000
Last Tuesday in Columbus, a guy came up to my register holding this bag of crushed ice, and right as I scan it the screen glitches and rings it up as $14,367.89. He just stared at me, then said 'I didn't know ice appreciated that fast.' We both cracked up, manager had to void it manually. Took 20 minutes to reset the whole POS system. Has anyone else had a register just invent a wild total out of nowhere?

Something like that happened to me a few years back when our scanner read a barcode wrong and tacked on a couple extra digits. The fix was to unplug the whole terminal for a full minute before powering it back up, which cleared the glitch faster than going through the menu reset. If your POS keeps doing it, have someone check the scanner settings, because ours had a loose cable causing garbage input.
