I just found out from a coworker that we've had the same guy try to return a dead houseplant for 3 years straight

He brings it in every spring claiming it 'didn't survive the winter' and wants a full refund. Has anyone else had a customer with a bizarrely persistent return policy demand?

Used to think a no-questions-asked return policy was a good idea. This story proves some people will just keep trying forever. You gotta have some limits.

What happens when a system has no limits at all? Christopherwilson is onto something because a policy with zero rules just invites people to push it as far as they can. It's like a game where the goal is to find the line, and if there isn't one, the game never ends. That's bad for the business and honestly unfair to everyone else. You need a clear rule so good people know what's fair and a few people can't ruin it for all.

That's just human nature, isn't it? Christopherwilson is right about needing limits because some folks will test any system forever. You see it everywhere, not just with returns.
