Watching a toddler resist a haircut gave me new insight.
Resistance often means fear, not dislike.

Yeah, that really hits close to home. We do the exact same thing as adults, we just have better words for it. Like calling it 'being stubborn' or 'not being a morning person' when really, we're just scared of the new routine or the change. The toddler screams and kicks, we just freeze up and shut down. It's all the same instinct when you feel like you're not in control.

Felt the same panic last week when I had to update my computer software... sat there staring at the screen for an hour, making excuses about being too busy. Really, I was just scared it would break something and I'd lose all my work. My heart was pounding like that toddler screaming in the barber chair. We put up these walls to feel safe, even when it holds us back. It's crazy how deep that fear goes.
