Warning: the cheap purple shampoo I bought from a drugstore in Chicago turned my client's blonde hair green

I figured a $5 bottle couldn't be that different from my $30 salon brand, but after one wash her highlights looked like swamp water, and I had to spend two hours fixing it with a toner - has anyone else found a drugstore purple shampoo that actually works?

Swamp water" is exactly right. I used to think cheap purple shampoo was fine, but that story totally changed my mind.

Dude I literally had a client bring in a bottle of that cheap purple stuff once and after one wash her white poodle looked like a smurf. Took me weeks to get that blue tint out of her coat. Best advice I can give is stick with a salon brand that's actually meant for dogs, not something you grabbed at the drugstore. The color correcting ones with a little blue base work way better and won't turn your pet into a science experiment.

Wait so did that client actually try to sue or get you to pay for a full redo? I'm curious how people react when their dog walks out looking like a cartoon character.
