Serious question, that stubborn orange band from an old color correction took me three full days to fix.

A client came in with a box dye disaster from 2018, and the orange line at her mid-lengths just would not lift evenly. I tried a gentle color remover first, then a custom toner mix, but in the end it needed a very careful, section-by-section color melt to blend it out properly. Has anyone else found a faster way to deal with that specific kind of old, banded color without compromising the hair's integrity?

Feel your pain on that one, those old lines are the worst. It sounds like you did everything right honestly, sometimes there just isn't a shortcut. I've definitely spent a whole day just on one band before.

Honestly, I used to think a strong lightener was the only answer for something that set in. What finally changed my mind was seeing how much more even the result is when you take the slow route like you did. It feels like a waste of time in the moment, but it always ends up saving a correction later. Tbh, those three days probably saved her hair from a major breakage line.
