Pro tip: I finally figured out why my blowouts kept falling flat

For like 6 months I was wondering why my blowouts looked perfect for an hour then just died. Last week I had this client who said her hair felt 'almost greasy' right after I finished. That clicked for me. I was using way too much heat protectant and not letting it dry enough before hitting it with the round brush. Added like 3 extra minutes of rough drying before styling and now it holds for 3 days easy. Anybody else made this same dumb mistake with product buildup?

Right? I had the exact same problem (like I was practically baptizing my clients in the stuff) and it was so frustrating because I thought more product = more protection. Turns out I was basically just frying a layer of wet gunk onto their hair instead of actually styling it. The rough drying tip is a game changer though, now I just blast it with hot air until it's like 80% dry and my blowouts actually last longer than my lunch break.

80% rough dry is the sweet spot for sure. @ward.jamie I've found that letting it cool down completely before touching it again locks everything in way better than any product ever did.
