Had a client last week who insisted on a 'sunset orange' balayage but refused to let me tone it. The final result was straight-up traffic cone.

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. You just know how good it could look and they won't let you finish the job. Showing pictures is the only thing that works sometimes, but even then some people are just set on that bright look. It's so frustrating to put your name on a color you know isn't right.

Ugh, been there! I showed them a side-by-side pic of toned vs. untoned and that usually changes their mind.

Yeah, the side-by-side thing is key. I read somewhere that people just process visual proof way faster than any argument.
