Spent 3 hours chasing a ghost printer issue, turns out it was a $6 cable

A client in Tulsa swore their printer was possessed, so I swapped drivers, rebooted the server, and even replaced the USB port before I noticed the old cable had a visible kink in it, took me 180 minutes to find a frayed wire I could have spotted in 10 if I'd looked down first, has anyone else wasted a whole morning on something this dumb?
