Overheard a guy at Micro Center say thermal paste doesn't matter much
I was standing in the checkout line at Micro Center last Saturday and heard this guy tell his friend that any thermal paste works the same as long as you put some on. He said he just uses the stuff that comes with coolers and never had issues. I had to bite my tongue but honestly I think he's wrong. I've tested about 15 different pastes over 5 years and the cheap stuff can run 5-8 degrees hotter on a Ryzen 9 under load. Has anyone else seen big temp differences with budget paste?

@uma_martinez nailed it. Cheap paste is trash on hot chips.
