Just saw a huge mess of cables at a new office park in Tempe

I was out at the new tech office park in Tempe yesterday for a quick drop-off, and I peeked into one of the server closets they had propped open. It was a total nightmare. Wires were just hanging down like spaghetti, no labels anywhere, and I spotted at least three power strips daisy-chained together on the floor. The whole setup looked like it was done in a rush, probably by someone who didn't know any better. It's a serious fire hazard and a nightmare waiting for the next person who has to trace a network issue. I'm talking hours of work just to make it safe, let alone functional. Has anyone else walked into a fresh install that was this poorly done? How do you even start fixing that without shutting the whole place down?

Wondering if it's really that big of a fire risk. Daisy-chained power strips are common in a pinch, and those hanging cables might just be for temporary gear. Seen setups like that run for years without a problem. Sometimes the mess looks worse than it actually is.

Ever try to fix a mess like that? I'd start by unplugging everything non-critical and just tracing one cable at a time with a label maker. It's gonna be a long day.

That looks like a pretty standard setup to me, honestly. I've seen way worse in server closets. Most of those cables are probably for things that need to stay plugged in anyway. Labeling is a good idea, but unplugging everything seems like making more work. Sometimes you just need to follow one wire with your finger instead of taking the whole thing apart.
