Switched from steel to fiberglass handles and wish I did it years ago

I always thought steel handles were tougher. Then a buddy down in the Gulf passed me his fiberglass knife after mine snapped on a line. Felt lighter, no rust, and it didn't slip in the wet. I ordered a set that night. Any of you guys made the swap and had regrets?

...and the biggest thing nobody tells you is how the balance changes. I swapped my fillet knife to fiberglass and it feels more tip-heavy (which some guys hate) but honestly it made delicate cuts on flounder way easier for me. The grip texture is the real win though, especially when you're rinsing fish blood off every five minutes. Only regret is I didn't do it sooner, but I keep a spare steel handle in my truck for when I'm prying oysters or something stupid where I'd rather break a blade than my wrist.

Did you have to regrip it or did it come decent from the start?

Wait, are we really out here acting like swapping knife handles is some life changing event? I mean I get it, a better grip is nice and all, but it cracks me up how serious some people get about this stuff like they're performing surgery on a $50 piece of fish. Yeah, a fiberglass handle is probably fine for cleaning flounder, but I bet half the people doing this just want an excuse to buy more gear rather than actually needing it. Most factory handles are decent enough unless you're buying total junk from a gas station, and even then a little tape fixes it for under a buck. I just can't get worked up over handle texture when I'm too busy trying to not slice my thumb open on a fish spine.
