PSA: Tried two different cold water hood liners on a job in Seattle

We were doing a two day inspection on a pier up there, water temp was about 45 degrees. First day I used my old fleece liner, and I was chilled to the bone after an hour. Next day I switched to a neoprene one a buddy lent me, and the difference was huge. I stayed warm and dry for the full three hour dive. Has anyone else found a specific liner or base layer that really works in that cold Pacific Northwest water?

Ever think about trying a thin wool layer under that neoprene?

My 5mm neoprene socks saved me on a similar dive, @the_jordan is right.

Been there, that cold cuts right through fleece. Neoprene is the only thing that works for me up here.
