Took me 3 hours to fix a single comic book binding, thought I knew what I was doing
Honestly, I've been collecting floppies for like 8 years and always just stacked them in boxes. My buddy convinced me to try getting a few issues professionally bound into a hardcover. Ngl, I figured I'd just drop them off at a shop and pick them up in a week. But the whole process of prepping the comics, sorting the order, and removing ads took me 3 full hours for just 12 issues. I didn't realize you had to flatten every single staple and trim the bag and board separately. Has anyone else been surprised by how much work goes into binding a set?

Laughs in "I thought I could just throw everything in a box and call it a collection." That's exactly how I felt when I tried to reorganize my garage. Looked up a tutorial, figured it'd take an afternoon, ended up spending a full weekend sorting through junk and realizing half my stuff wasn't even worth keeping. It's funny how something that seems simple on the surface always has a hidden layer of work underneath it. Same thing with cooking or fixing a leaky faucet, right? You just don't see the prep time until you actually try it.

Word. The prep time is always the hidden monster. Nobody tells you that half your crap is just junk you're holding onto for no good reason. I spent a whole Saturday doing the same thing with my home office. Ended up throwing away three trash bags full of old cables and random screws I'd saved for years. Never touched them once. It's like the universe punishes you for thinking something will be quick.
