Remember when you had to pick a side between Marvel and DC?
Back in high school, around 2008, my friends and I had a real split. You were either a Marvel guy or a DC guy, and you stuck to it. I had a choice: keep buying 'Amazing Spider-Man' every month or jump ship and follow the new 'Batman and Robin' series with Dick Grayson as Batman. I picked Marvel, mostly because I'd been reading Spidey since I was a kid and couldn't let it go. It felt like picking a sports team. Looking back, it seems so silly to limit yourself like that. Now I just read good stories from anywhere, but back then, that choice felt huge. Did anyone else have that kind of pointless loyalty back in the day?

Man, I still get into dumb fights about Star Trek vs Star Wars.

See that's the thing, they're not even the same kind of story so the fight is pointless. Star Wars is a fantasy adventure about family and magic swords in space. Star Trek is more about ideas and how people could be better in the future. It's like arguing if a hammer is better than a screwdriver, they do different jobs. Why do people feel the need to pick one and trash the other?

Do you think people pick a side because it's easier than admitting both have good and bad parts?
