Ran into a guy at the grocery store who had the exact same obscure X-Men tattoo as me

Last Tuesday at the Kroger in Dayton, I was grabbing milk and saw this dude with a tattoo of the Morlock Callisto on his forearm. I have the same one on my shoulder. We ended up talking in the cereal aisle for like 15 minutes about how we both got it after reading the 'Mutant Massacre' arc back in the 90s. It was wild to meet another fan who went that deep into the lore just out in the wild. Anyone else ever randomly meet another fan who was into the same super niche character?

No way, that's awesome! I've got a pretty deep cut tattoo myself, and I always make a point to say something if I spot a fellow fan. It's how I've met some of my best friends, honestly. My advice is to always be the one to speak up first, because you never know when you'll click with someone over that kind of shared passion. That quick chat in the cereal aisle could turn into a lifelong friendship or at least a great comic shop buddy.

Honestly, that's the best part about niche tattoos. Wade's right about speaking up, but I've found it works as a weird filter too. If you see someone with a tattoo of, say, Maggot or Stilt-Man, you already know they've got zero interest in being trendy. It skips all the small talk. You're not just meeting a fan, you're meeting someone who made a permanent choice based on a deeply personal, probably weird, connection to the material. That's a solid foundation.

It's like a secret handshake you wear on your skin.
