Appreciation post: the barista at Cafe Miel in Portland told me about the $18 oat milk subscription I didn't need
I was spending $72 a week on oat milk lattes at Cafe Miel for 5 weeks straight. The barista noticed I always brought my own cup and asked how much I was paying for oat milk at home. I told her $18 a month for a fancy brand. She said the shop gets it for way less and wrote down the name on a napkin. Switched and now I save $52 a month. My remote work spot is still the same corner table by the window. If you're grinding at a coffee shop 4 days a week like me, ask your barista what they actually use.
The barista thing gets me because they SEE you every day and actually pay attention. My guy at the place near my apartment noticed I always ordered the same cold brew and started making it before I even got to the counter. Then one day he mentioned they do a punch card I never knew about, and I'd basically been missing free drinks for months. Not as big as your $52 a month but still stung a little. These people know the menu and the prices better than anyone and half of us never think to just ask.
