Question about cold brew - was I wrong to dismiss it for years?
For like 5 years I thought cold brew was just a fad that hipsters pushed on everyone. I was a hot coffee guy through and through, dark roast pour over every morning. Last summer my neighbor brought over a mason jar of her homemade cold brew and I tried it just to be polite. Man was I surprised. It was smooth and had this natural sweetness with zero bitterness. I started reading up on it and learned the science behind it, how the cold water extracts different compounds. Now I keep a batch brewing in my fridge all the time. I still love my morning hot coffee but cold brew has become my go-to for afternoon drinks. Has anyone else been totally turned around on something you were sure you'd never like?

Wait, you thought it was just hipster hype for FIVE years? That’s wild. I literally had the exact same moment last summer when a friend handed me a cup at a barbecue and I was like "oh no here we go" but then it tasted like chocolate water and I felt so dumb for being a snob about it. Now I keep a whole jug going in my fridge too, and I use it to make iced coffee that actually doesn't taste like burnt dirt.

The real test is seeing how old friends react when you serve them your first successful batch.
