The Wednesday my Haas decided it hated G-code

Last week was going fine until Wednesday around 2 PM. My machine started throwing random Z-axis errors on a simple pocketing routine I've run a hundred times. I rechecked the code three times, zeroed everything out, and it still failed. Turns out a guy on the night shift had bumped the tool setter out of whack by 0.015 inches. Took me four hours to figure out because I assumed it was a software problem. Has anyone else had a seemingly perfect program fail because of a physical glitch you overlooked?

...actually had something similar happen with a lathe a few months back, swear I checked every line of code before realizing the coolant nozzle got bent and was spraying right onto the tool setter...took forever to find because everything in the software looked fine. It's funny how we always blame the program first when it's usually something stupid like a bump or a drip.

Man, that's exactly the kind of thing that drives me nuts. Had a similar deal on a Bridgeport where the table clamp was loose by just a hair (like 0.005 or so) and it made the whole part look like crap. Spent a whole day redoing offsets and code before I noticed it wobbling a little. Always the dumb physical stuff, right?
