Switching to a clothesline to save energy gave me a new appreciation for windy days.

In my experience, air-drying laundry on a breezy afternoon taught me that socks can have a real talent for becoming kites.

Last Tuesday, I lost a pillowcase to a gust because I only used one clip. Now I double up on everything, sheets ESPECIALLY. For t-shirts, I hang them by the bottom hem so they don't balloon out and get stuck on the line. Jeans are tricky, but folding them over the line once before clipping keeps them from whipping around. That windy afternoon really showed me how to be smarter about laundry.

Ever have a shirt turn into a sail and try to fly off the line? I started using two clips on each corner of my bigger stuff, like sheets and towels. For socks, I pair them and peg them by the toes, not the cuffs. It sounds silly, but hanging pants upside down by the ankles stops them from doing that weird twisty dance in the wind too.

Hanging pants upside down is a total game changer. I used to fight with my jeans twisting into knots every time a breeze picked up. Flipping them and clipping the ankles keeps them flat and still. It feels wrong but it works perfectly. I wish I had figured that out years ago.
