Hot take: Rice isn't actually the cheapest base you can buy.

I was looking at per-pound costs at WinCo last week and lentils are like $1.29 a pound while standard white rice is $0.89. But lentils have way more protein and fiber so you need less to feel full. Which one is actually saving you more money in the long run?

At WinCo near me, a 1lb bag of dry lentils is $1.19 but a 25lb sack of white rice is like $0.39 a pound, so rice still wins on pure weight price.

Rice: still the king of cheap eats apparently. Lentils out here acting like they're fancy or something. Guess I'll stick with my 25lb bag of rice and just pretend it's a full meal.
