Met a guy at a bus stop who fixed my alternator cable with a paperclip
Last month my car died in the middle of downtown Austin during rush hour. I popped the hood and knew it was the alternator but had no tools. This older guy named Dale was waiting for the same bus and asked if he could look. He pulled a paperclip from his wallet, bent it a certain way, and jammed it into the connector. Car started right up. He said he learned that trick in the Navy in the 70s. We talked for 20 minutes until the bus came. He never asked for anything, just said pay it forward. I've been trying to figure out how to track him down or if anyone else has had a stranger fix something with the dumbest simplest thing?

Funny how nobody's mentioned that Dale probably saved that paperclip for years, maybe decades, just waiting for the right moment. Guys like him carry that stuff around like a lucky charm, and the real magic is knowing exactly when to use it. Makes you wonder what other "useless" junk you've got in your own glovebox that could do something amazing if you only knew how to see it differently.
