Question about dealing with that weird adhesive smell after a big job

I was cleaning a house yesterday where they just had new carpet put in, and the smell of that spray adhesive was still hanging around pretty strong. The homeowner mentioned they were running air purifiers in every room for three days straight before they moved furniture back in. I never really thought about the fumes sticking around that long after the install is done. Has anyone else run into complaints from customers about the adhesive smell, or do you usually just air it out before you leave?

Actually used to think it was no big deal until I had to clean a house where the adhesive smell gave me a headache within ten minutes. Made me realize those fumes can really linger longer than you'd expect. Between that and the new carpet off-gassing, it can be pretty rough for some people. Now I always crack windows and run fans for at least a few hours after a job with glue or adhesive. That experience definitely changed how I handle installs and cleans now.

Yeah that off gassing is no joke. Had a similar wake up call when I installed a laminate floor and the glue smell stuck around for almost a week. Now I always leave a box fan in the window pointed out for at least 24 hours after any adhesive job. Also helps to keep a few bowls of vinegar around the room. Sounds weird but it really cuts down on that chemical smell faster than just airing it out alone.
