Always thought double cut was a waste of time until I hit 100 seams in one day

Pushed through a 3,000 square foot commercial job last month and tried double cutting every seam after some bad experiences with tape lifting on seams. That 5 seconds per cut saved me from redoing 12 seams later, anyone else change their mind on a technique after hitting a big number?}

You sure that 5 seconds per cut really added up over 3,000 square feet? In my experience, you end up spending more time measuring and adjusting than you save, and a good tape job with proper pressure beats double cutting every time. Just my two cents but I think the prep and surface condition matter way more than the cut style.

Actually @the_simon, I gotta push back a little on the time thing. It's not really about 5 seconds per cut adding up to some huge number. It's more that double cutting means you're making two passes along every seam, which doubles the chance of a knife slip or a bad line. Plus, if you're working with a heavy backing paper, that second cut can actually tear the face paper underneath. I've seen guys try to rush through it and end up with a jagged edge that shows right through the paint. Prep and surface matter a ton, sure, but a single clean cut with a sharp blade still feels tighter to me.
