Picked the wrong router bit for a curved edge on some walnut yesterday and made a real mess of it
Was trying to round over a tabletop with a 1/4 radius bit when I should've used a 3/8 one, tore out a huge chunk of grain near the end grain, anyone else find themselves grabbing the wrong bit size when you're in a hurry?

Saw a woodworking forum post where someone said they keep a cheat sheet taped to their router table for exactly this reason. Idk, might be worth trying so you don't grab the wrong bit when you're rushing.

Does @scott.jana have a link to that forum post? I've been meaning to set up something similar for my router but haven't gotten around to it yet. I read somewhere that a lot of people use color coded tape on the bits themselves to match the cheat sheet, which sounds like it could help. I've grabbed the wrong bit before when I was in a hurry, and it made a mess of the wood. Testing on scrap is smart too, but having that sheet right there saves time.

Saw a guy on YouTube say always test on scrap first because of exactly THIS mistake.
