Hit 50,000 nails with my framing nailer without a single jam
I track my tools pretty closely for work, and last month I hit 50,000 nails through my old Hitachi NV83A. That thing just keeps going. I clean it maybe once a season with some brake cleaner and oil the driver, but that's it. Never had a jam or misfire the whole time. I use plain old clipped-head nails from Menards mostly, nothing fancy. I know some guys swear by Paslode but this Hitachi has been bulletproof for me. What's the longest stretch you've gotten out of a nailer without issues?

And 50,000 with clipped heads is impressive, a lot of guys say those are finicky but I've had the same luck with them in my Hitachi. I think the key is just not overcleaning it, like you said, a quick brake cleaner spray once in a while is all they really need.

Buddy of mine had the exact same experience with clipped heads in his Makita. He was always chasing problems until he just stopped messing with them and now they've been going strong for years. Makes you wonder why people overthink it so much, right?
