Hit 500 applications submitted last week, still no job offer

I was updating my spreadsheet last Thursday and saw I crossed 500 job applications since January. That's about 10 a week for almost a year. Most of them were ghost responses or automated rejections. Has anyone else kept a count like this and did it actually lead to anything?

Brutal is putting it lightly. I made a spreadsheet to track my hours once and by day three I was color coding cells just to feel like I was accomplishing something. Ended up with 47 categories for "break time" which is honestly sad.

Did you actually catch yourself doing the 47 categories thing or was that exaggerated for effect? Because honestly I can see how that would spiral. Once you start tracking breaks you realize how many little moments of recovery you actually need to stay sane. It's like your brain knows you need those pauses but the spreadsheet makes you feel guilty about them. Then you start categorizing them to justify why each one was necessary. That's the kind of thing that makes you question if you're just gaming the system or actually helping yourself.
