My old notary setup vs. my new one after a trip to the DMV

I used to just grab any random person off the street to witness my signatures. Three years ago I got a document rejected because the witness didn't have a valid ID. Now I pay $15 at a shop near the San Diego courthouse and they stamp everything twice. Has anyone else had a bad experience with a cheap or unlicensed notary?

Used to think a notary was just some random stamp, until I had a deed almost get thrown out over bad paperwork. That DMV trip totally changed my mind about paying for a proper one. Money well spent to avoid that headache.

Is that what happened, you had to redo everything at the DMV? @wendy391 I definitely learned the hard way too that a notary's seal is basically a legal safety net, worth every penny to avoid a mountain of paperwork.
