I used to just wing it with tenant leases but one eviction case in San Diego changed my mind
After watching a judge toss my notice for a minor formatting issue, I started paying a paralegal $150 to review every lease before signing, has anyone else had a legal fight over something silly like that?

yeah that judge toss thing happened to me with a storage unit lease once, i had the date wrong by one day and the guy walked with two months unpaid. now i screenshot everything and keep a binder like a crazy person, my handwriting is so bad i cant even read my own notes half the time.

Did you hire the paralegal to write the leases or just to check your work? The issue you ran into sounds like it was about notice requirements, not the lease itself. Those are two completely different things in court. If your eviction got tossed because of how the notice was worded, the lease itself probably wasn't the problem. You might want to look into your local landlord-tenant laws on notices instead of spending money fixing a lease that's probably fine.
