Hot take: I chose a 3/8 inch drill over a 1/2 inch for crawl spaces and it's better
Everyone on my crew said the bigger drill was the only way to go for boring through floor joists, but I got tired of wrestling the heavy thing in tight spots. I switched to a lighter 3/8 inch model six months ago and I haven't had a single job where it couldn't handle the task, even with long bits. Am I the only one who thinks we overrate power for the sake of it in this job?

That lighter weight probably saves your shoulders more than you realize.

Patriciah51, how much weight difference are we actually talking about here?

But what about when you hit a nasty knot or some old, hard wood? Does the smaller drill ever feel like it's struggling?
